Is it worth repairing a dental handpiece instead of replacing it?+
For most high-speed handpieces, yes. A $99 turbine rebuild or $179 full overhaul restores factory-level performance for a fraction of the $600–$1,500 replacement cost — and the outer shell you already own is built to last through many rebuilds.
How do I know if my handpiece needs a rebuild or a full overhaul?+
If the head runs hot, sounds rough, or has lost noticeable power, a rebuild (bearings, o-rings, hardware) usually solves it. If it's been through multiple rebuilds, has visible turbine damage, or performance still drops after a rebuild, a full overhaul (complete turbine cartridge) is the better long-term value.
Can I ship a handpiece for repair without downtime in my practice?+
Most practices rotate a spare during the 4–6 day round trip. If you don't have a spare, we can prioritize your rebuild and ship it back the same day it arrives — just call 858-208-3649 before mailing.
What information should I include when shipping a handpiece?+
Print our packing slip, note the brand and model, briefly describe the symptom (noise, heat, weak grip, etc.), and include a contact email or phone. That's it — we handle the diagnostic and quote from there.
Where is your repair facility located?+
Our repair bench is in San Diego, California. We service dental practices in all 50 states via free prepaid shipping, with local pickup available in San Diego County.
Do you service specialty handpieces beyond standard high-speeds?+
Yes — slow-speed motors and attachments, electric handpieces and heads, lab and prophy handpieces, and fiber-optic variants. Anything outside a flat-rate rebuild is quoted before any billable work begins.
