Dental handpiece fiber-optic light dim or not working? Causes and fixes
Dim light usually means a dirty or scratched glass rod; no light often points to a bulb, coupler or broken fiber bundle.
Short answer: a dim handpiece light is usually a dirty or scratched glass rod at the head or connection end; no light at all typically means a failed bulb/LED in the coupler or a broken fiber bundle.
What to check first
Clean both ends of the optic with alcohol, swap to another coupler to rule it out, and check the bulb. If the handpiece is still dark, the fiber bundle likely needs repair.
